Description

by Bill Miller.

This is one of the first of many great photographic books of the great liners. That ships have always been floating statements of their nations is confirmed in these illustrations. The Normandie is decorated with reminders of that glorious province of France; the suites of the Nieuw Amsterdam were named for the provinces of Holland and the Dutch West Indian colonies, the winter garden on the Resolute, the indoor pool on the boat deck of the Reliance, the Hollywood picture palace atmosphere of the ballroom of the Conte Grande of 1927, you’ll have the opportunity to peek at interiors of ships in the colonial services of Britain, the Netherlands and Portugal.

If anyone has any question of the opulence of the early British, French and German liners, this is the book. 200 Historic photographs of many of the lavish interiors and public rooms.

145 pages. Softback.
