Description

by Vera & John Gillespie

This is a true story of being at the right place at the right time. Carlos Hurd was an important newspaperman from Kansas City who was taking a well-earned vacation with a voyage to the Mediterranean on the SS Carpathia in early April 1912. Needless to say when he got word the Cunarder was racing to a disaster scene to pick up survivors, his journalistic instincts took over and he was determined to get the story. The scoop of the world was suppressed as much as possible by Captain Rostron but Hurd was a resourceful man and not easily deterred How the world first heard about the sinking of the Titanic first hand.

Illustrated. Softback.
