Lusitania’s last moments.

The Sinking of the Lusitania, May 7, 1915, a consecutively numbered and artist signed limited edition (367) fine art print by maritime artist Stuart Williamson. Outside measurement: 20 1/4 X 16 inches; 41cm X 30 cm. Illustration measures 16 1/4 X 11 3/4; 40.5 X 51 cm. Lusitania in her time was acclaimed as a technological miracle, built to a standard of beauty that brought the steamship into a class of elegance and speed heretofore unknown. Today her name does not conjure thoughts of romantic voyages but tragedy, intrigue and controversy. She went into history as a victim of war, torpedoed without warning off the Irish coast with an appalling loss of life. It was this atrocity that helped propel a neutral America into war. Williamson’s painting portrays the sinking that began on a serene, sunny afternoon into a deeply moving, stark drama of life and death.
