2004 SPECIAL EDITION
Part II of Ken Marschall’s comprehensive presentation of outtakes from “Ghosts of the Abyss” continues with more magnificent sights. The cover photo is a marvelous example. After all these years here is a gilt-brass and wood footboard from a first-class stateroom, a taste of what is ahead. There are poignant Then and Now images around the Grand Staircase, of one of Titanic’s most elegant architectural features. Now a gaping chasm, here and there vestiges of the ship’s former splendor are found as illumination shines from where the domed skylight once rested lighting rusted steel skeletons on what were once beautifully polished oak columns.
Ken spent hundreds of hours composing the text and selecting the precise photographs for this three-part series. It is complicated, expensive and a tribute to his love of the subject and his many years of loyalty and service to the Titanic Historical Society. We are very appreciative for providing these historic images.
Also in this issue is a fascinating background about a special brand of cigars, one of the prestigious products carried by the White Star Line.
THS’s 40th Anniversary and Titanic Dinner was an incredible weekend in the words of those who participated. Bon Voyage Titanic highlights are illustrated including portions of the rave reviews.
